MEET THE MAKERS, a week-long series of events consisting of masterclasses, screenings, Q ans A’s, Meet and Greets, and panels from Hi-Profile, renowned experts from within the UK Film Industry and beyond was organized by the Year 2 Leader of BA Film and Television – Ian D Fleming.
The masterclasses took place within different venues across London College of Communication’s campus.

The first day began with a talk from EVE GUTIERREZ , Executive Producer & Head of Talent at Eleventh Hour Films.
In her role as Executive Producer, Eve works closely with the development team as well as overseeing productions from commission through to delivery. As Head of Talent she works to match-make the company’s projects with the very best global talent. Eve is currently Executive Producer on EHF’s adaptation of the best-selling teen spy novels, Alex Rider for Prime Video, IMDb TV and Sony Pictures Television. The series premiered on Prime Video in the UK in June 2020 and on IMDbTV in the US in November 2020 followed up by second 8-episode series in December 2021.
The afternoon followed with PETER HOAR , BAFTA Winning Director whose credits span across critically acclaimed and entertaining High-End Television both in UK and US markets.
Peter directed the pilot and finale of The Umbrella Academy’s first season for Netflix and has directed episodes of Altered Carbon, Iron Fist and Daredevil and The Defenders for Marvel/Netflix as well as two episodes of Cloak & Dagger for Disney. Peter most recently directed and executive produced It’s A Sin, which aired on Channel 4 in January to glowing 5* reviews and had over 6.5 million viewers in its first week making it All 4’s biggest ever drama launch. Created and written by Russell T Davies, the five-part series follows a group of young friends as they embrace the capital’s gay scene and confront the tragic effects of AIDS on their community.

The next day followed with talks from KATIE BUCHANAN (Executive Producer, Showrunner, Producer, Documentary Director) and TOBY HAYNES (Director, Executive Producer)

In 2020 Katie founded Big Sister Films, a female-focused production company specializing in premium documentaries. It’s first feature doc How to Leave a Cult is now in production. Katie has also produced feature docs for Oscar winner Kevin Macdonald including 2020: The Story of Us about the first wave of Covid (Broadcast nominated and Grierson shortlisted). As Creative Director at Sundog Pictures from 2018-2020, Katie was the exec producer on Grierson and Broadcast Award nominated What’s the Matter with Tony Slattery?, which was the highest-rated Horizon for 4 years and on BBC3 hit series The Surrogates (also Broadcast nominated).

Toby was recently Lead Director on Andor, the Star Wars spinoff series for Lucasfilm/Disney +. He recently directed the pilot and three further episodes of Utopia, written by Gillian Flynn for Amazon Studios, and was also executive producer across the series. He directed the critically acclaimed Black Mirror episode ‘USS Callister’ which won four Primetime Emmy Awards including the award for Oustanding Television Movie. Toby recently directed James Graham’s Brexit: The Uncivil War, starring Benedict Cumberbatch, which was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Television Movie and two BAFTAs for Best Director and Best Single Drama.

Vikash Patel an Emmy Winning Editor joined live from his studio in Hollywood.

Vikash has been an editor on Ozark, The Mornign Show and other shows. He won the EMMY in 2008
in the ‘Outstanding Picture Editing For Reality Programming’ fpr Top Chef.
