Events (Week Commencing 14th November)
1.Brand-Funded Entertainment – Is this the next generation of TV?
Brands have an ever-present opportunity to create content that audiences will engage with, even become immersed in, but they’re typically turning to TV production companies to help create high-quality, engaging and entertaining content.
More and more brands are proving that it’s possible to create their own ‘Netflix-style’ binge-worthy content, which customers want to watch and commands their attention. In the advertising arena, ‘attention’ is a diminishing resource in an increasingly cluttered marketing and advertising ecosystem. It matters more than ever, and it’s even harder to achieve.
This panel discussion looks at this new trend of brands investing in entertainment – TV series and films – as a way to engage new customers. As a new revenue stream for production companies and TV professionals – how can they maximize on this new trend? What will the impact be of brands funding our TV entertainment? How can the TV industry maintain its gold quality standards? Will most of our TV be paid for by brands in the next 10 years?

David Granger, Content Director, Cinch
Adam Puchalsky, Global Head of Content, Wavemaker
Nina Nørgaard Jacobsen, CEO and founder, Biites

2. The BBC : Beyond the Centenary
Competition from streamers is inflating the costs of program-making, and young audiences (16-24 year olds) are spending more time with TikTok than the BBC. What should be the BBC be concentrating on?
When Tim Davie began his tenure as DG he made impartiality a priority, yet we’ve recently seen how easy it is for a reporter to breach it with “glee”. Trust arrives on foot but leaves on horseback as the Dutch saying goes.
But recent events in its centenary year such as the Commonwealth Games and the coverage of the death and funeral of HM The Queen remind even the BBC’s most ardent critics how much it is valued.
Join the panel as they offer the current leadership their views and advice. If you want to submit your questions in advance, please email them to: rtslondon@rts.org.uk
Tickets include a complimentary glass of wine over which to continue the debate.
Chair:
Andrew Eborn, International lawyer, and broadcaster
