GSDF Labs is a series of free events for filmmakers around the world, a mix of online sessions and in person events on short documentary storytelling, pitching, and solutions journalism.
The workshops are designed to support filmmakers and video journalists who are developing their short documentary proposals, and feature experts and filmmakers sharing practical tips and insights.
GSDF Labs marks the opening of the Call for Applications for Global Short Docs Forum 2023. The next edition of the Forum takes place online in March 2023, where selected filmmakers pitch their work to international media outlets and have a chance to receive a grant, a commission or acquisition deal.

This event organized by the Royal Television Society looks at the impact of natural history programmes on the environment.
Whether filming in the Arctic or Galapagos – what are the concerns and considerations? Are they very different to filming in the Scottish Highlands or central London? While out and about, home or abroad – how does TV production ensure it’s as sustainable as possible? In our remote working and virtual world – do crews really need to fly across the globe? 7. Reclaim The Frame: The Blue Inmates + Q&A : 8th November 2022
Join Reclaim the Frame for a special screening of The Blue Inmates at BERTHA Doc House. The Blue Inmates follows the making of a theatre production depicting inmates suffering from mental health issues, isolated within “The Blue Building” in Lebanon’s Roumieh Prison, portrayed by their fellow inmates in the general population. Through Daccache, we hear untold stories through the performance, as she seeks to show humanity within an inhumane system and to bring change. Following the screening, there will be a zoom Q&A.

8. Independent Cinema Office presents JONAS MEKAS 100!
Celebrating the centenary of the pioneering avant-garde filmmaker’s birth. The UK cinema tour brings together several of the filmmaker’s most-celebrated films alongside lesser-seen works, is available for venues to book until 30 November.

9. London Korean Film Festival : 3-17 November 2022
The London Korean Film Festival returns to celebrate its 17th year from 3 November – 17 November, featuring 35+ cinema screenings in leading venues around London. This year’s festival features a ‘Special Focus’ strand in memory of actress Kang Soo-yeon, and a Documentary strand presenting 3 works in which participatory activism, mainstream style, and experimentation within the contemporary art world intersect. The festival will go on tour to Glasgow and Manchester, on 24 November and 27 November respectively.
